Yes, we are specialized in Bombay Style Chinese Cuisine. It is unique Chinese cooking that has evolved from years of living in India by the Hakka Chinese. In the early 1900's, the Hakka Chinese migrated from Canton Province, China to Calcutta, India, to escape from opium warfare and other political issues. It is in India that the Hakka Chinese were faced to taste traditional Indian pungent cooking. Years gone by, the Hakka has grown to love eating spicy and pungent food. Hence, they created many home meals that incorporated Chinese wok cooking with many traditional Indian ingredients. Our executive chef/owner is the second generation Chinese born in Calcutta, India. However, he grew up and worked in the metropolitan Bombay, now Mumbai. He was chosen to cook at China Garden Restaurant in Bombay which has been voted Best in Asia for many consecutive years. Then he moved to the United States and opened the first Indian style Chinese Restaurant named Hot Wok in Atlanta, Georgia. Hot Wok was voted Best of Atlanta 2000, "Best East Meets West" by the prestige Atlanta Magazine. Now he brings Indian-Chinese cuisine to Chicago to serve you.
